What’s In My Cart for a Cottagecore Summer
Summer is quickly approaching, and if you know me, there’s nothing I love more than a sundress, a big straw hat, and a visit to the farmers market. It’s hard to believe given how much I love summer fashion now, but even just a few years ago, I used to hate it. I think a lot of that comes down to the fact that I didn’t know what my personal style was, so I felt uncomfortable (from all of the humidity!), and just not like myself. I was always very confident in what I liked for my fall and winter fashion, but summer was one big question mark. Now, I’d venture to say that my summer clothes feel more like me than my winter ones do!
All of this to say, I love summer fashion & accessories; and today’s blog is all about that. So here’s everything that is in my cart, on my wish list, or things that I feel like everyone should have in their summer wardrobe.

Sundresses
If you’ve read my blogs before, seeing sundresses as the first category likely comes as no surprise. I’m a total sucker for a flowy sundress. Not only are they super comfortable, but they take virtually no effort to style to make me feel put together. Simply add a bag, a cute pair of shoes and you’re golden! I’d venture to say 90% of the summer months I spend in a sundress, and the other 10% are in some form of overalls since I like to be in the garden too (although, I have been known to garden in a dress too).
Swimsuits
Swimsuits and summer are just synonymous with each other, right?! Though I must admit, I don’t personally spend a ton of time by the water, or in situations where I would need a swimsuit, I am a firm believer that having a couple of solid options in your collection are a must. Frankly, I’m eyeing up that butter yellow one piece with the bow ties on the shoulders really hard…
Hair Accessories
Does anyone else love a summer hair accessory? From scrunchies, to headscarves, and hats, I just love to do fun stuff with my hair in the summer. In the winter months, I’ve always got a toque on, so there’s not a ton of options for those months – but the summer? The options are endless! Between my rotation of sun hats to keep my scalp (+ face and neck!) protected from the sun, I love to do fun little braids, throw my hair up in a claw clip, and one of my personal favourite things this summer has been wearing a headscarf, especially when I’m biking. It keeps my hair from getting wild!
Footwear & Handbags
Another thing that I love to lean into in the summer months is fun footwear and bags! Again, in the winter, you and your winter boots basically become an exclusive item… but the summer allows for so much more. I personally love to be able to slide on a simple sandal that looks good, but is also super comfortable, but I’m also spending a lot of time in sneakers while on my bike, and rubber boots while in the garden.
So, there is everything that is in my cart for this summer! A special honourable mention has to go out to the cotton-linen blend PJs from Piglet in Bed that didn’t get their own category, but I am completely obsessed with! One day, those PJs, and the matching sheets will be mine…
